I love themed parties, and an 80's theme party is one of the best party themes in my opinion. As a baby of the 80s, it's the era of Michael Jackson, donkey kong, shoulder pads, big hair, Cyndi Lauper, and neon colors. I frankly love all of the bright colors and thought it would be a fun way to celebrate my 30th birthday.
My 20s were unbelievably fun. They were filled with attending college and making new lifelong friends; getting my first job and adjusting to working full-time; dating a few guys that shaped what I want in life, which eventually led me to my husband; buying our first home together and fixing it up; and starting own business, living through the tribulations as a first time entrepreneur.
I hosted this party for my 30th birthday, but it can easily be adopted for a 40th Birthday Party, too! I’m lucky to still be close to all of my high school friends, and even more fortunate that I nearly share a birthday with one of them, Katie. We decided we’d host a joint themed 30th birthday to ‘Party like it’s 1987.’ Tapping into the MTV-crazed era was essential as was the crimped hair, off the shoulder tops and tulle skirts.
