Easy & Fun Girls' Night In Party Ideas
In college, we all lived down the hall from one another. As you can imagine, weekend plans were never a question; they were an understanding. Fast-forward to our early 30s, and life evolved. As the years passed, priorities shifted, partners entered our lives and weekend plans were not as easy to schedule. It’s a different kind of fun that takes a bit more planning and effort to make happen. With two friends about to enter the wonderful world of motherhood, evolution was again quickly approaching and it was the perfect time to toast to the departure of our 20s.
Going down memory Lane
We were sorority sisters in college living in Pi Beta Phi at Indiana University. The hours seemed endless for lounging and chatting so when planning our event, I knew pajamas were a necessity. Fun finger foods would bring us back to our snacking days along with fun, celebratory décor and a game.
The details
I set the theme as Girls’ Night In with only one requirement – cute, comfy pajamas. I love to carry a theme through every detail. I designed a decadent sweets table, mini snacks, memorable favors and a game to bring the theme to life. Cozy was a key piece so I kept all foods & sweets bitesize to keep us nibbling all night long.
When dreaming of the sweets table, I thought of the most beautiful tables I’d seen, which all shared one thing – levels. I designed the table with a variety of heights and types of sweets. The cake from Sweet Mandy B’s was the perfect centerpiece with flowers as a delicate accessory. Smaller plates of macaroons and donuts flanked the table with ‘Girls Night In’ champagne bottles tying it all together.
I created a conversational card game with supplies from Paper Source to draw on old memories, share each other’s most admirable qualities and connect over future hopes & dreams for careers, families and travel. I printed questions but then embellished them by embossing gold flowers in different spots on the cards.
Favors might be my favorite part of bringing a theme to life because it’s the tangible memory guests take home. I love utilitarian favors with an element of personalization. I marked each of the boxes using one of the mini champagne labels. The contents included a mini champagne bottle, watercolor stationary, tea and a macaroon case. The mini champagne bottle was customized with names and my favorite friendship quote matching the style of the ‘Girls’ Night In’ champagne bottles. The tea symbolized the relaxing part of the night while the macaroon case cued the decadence of the sweets table. Lastly, I created the watercolor stationary to symbolize our connection that night as well as future looking.
Bringing it to Life
The girls arrived to find their gift box at each place setting. After toasting to more than ten years of friendship, we stayed up late chatting and giggling just like the old days. The girls woke up the next morning to a beautiful brunch setting with Kate Spade China and floral centerpieces. I love paper keepsakes so I designed menus to match the event. We reminisced for a few hours more before jumping back into our everyday weekend lives of running errands, prepping for hectic work weeks and time with our partners.
Girls’ Night In was one beautiful night and the perfect capstone as we continue life’s evolution. The friendship quote truly said it best,
